Over the last six months there have been some changes to the Donations With A Difference board of trustees that you might not necessarily have been aware of. This is our belated round-up of the changes, to thank those who have moved on and to welcome some new faces.
In April of this year our chairman Wayne Hodgson stepped down after four and a half years at the helm. Wayne has founded a new charity, the Red Eagle Foundation, and will be focusing his efforts on this going forward. The rest of the board would like to place on record their gratitude for everything that Wayne has contributed to DWAD since we started in 2013 and wish him all the best with his new venture. His tireless efforts have been a major part of our fundraising success and enabled us to award almost £40,000 in grants that have made significant improvements to people's lives.
At the end of last year we welcomed two new trustees to the charity, Ella Brocklebank and Cheryl Causebrook. Ella and Cheryl have a wealth of experience and contacts, especially in the construction industry, and bring new energy and ideas to the organisation. You can read more about our new trustees on our About page.
Around the same time, co-founder Paul Tingey stepped down from the board but remains involved in helping us to raise funds. You'll likely still see him at DWAD events, including our ever popular quizzes. Like Wayne, Paul has been integral in getting DWAD to where it is today and we are extremely grateful for everything he has done and hope that he will continue to be involved with DWAD for a long time to come.
As a result of these changes, we needed to elect a new chairperson. Co-founder and vice-chair Alan Tingey was the unanimous choice of the board to take over at the head of the charity and build on the good work of his predecessor. New trustee Cheryl Causebrook has stepped up to take on the vice-chair role.
