Every year Canterbury Fire Station hits the streets and collects money for their chosen charities. This year Donations With A Difference was one of the charities selected by the station to receive funds.
Rob George, a local firefighter, submitted DWAD to the station's charity rep Kevin McCalden due to the Kent-focused grants DWAD supports and having been encouraged by their achievements throughout 2017.
Kevin McCalden said “We always look to include a local charity when selecting charities to support with our Christmas collections. DWAD was submitted by one of our team and as a station we all agreed that it has a great history of supporting Kent individuals and organisations and helping where support is needed most”.
DWAD chairman Wayne Hodgson commented, “We were absolutely delighted when the Fire Station contacted us and said we would benefit from their December collections. The £917 received today will go directly in to our grant fund and will help support our aid to local causes. We have been particularly busy over the last couple of years supporting disabled children with specialist bespoke equipment that couldn’t be funded by the NHS. The equipment often dramatically improves the quality of their lives and their families who care for them. We can’t thank the local Canterbury Fire Station enough for their support”.
